The University of Texas - Pan American's Computer Science and Engineering Departments have a mentoring program available for students seeking a Computer Science or Engineering major.
Our mission is to assist entering freshmen students in completing their academic study successfully by providing help regarding their new UTPA environment, university procedures, difficulties with assigned CS & ENGR work; and help them find the route to the information they want, when they need it.
If you are a CS or Engineering freshman and are interested in any of the following areas

Networking with other CS & ENGR students

Having help available for your classes

Course and degree advise

Attending campus and community activities such as career fairs or a concert

Easy access to scholarship opportunities
Then this program is definitely right for you!
This program will provide you with the tools and resources necessary to be a successful student. Your only responsibility will be to meet with your designated mentor at least three hours per week for the rest of the semester. The program for Fall 2007 will be coordinated by Gustavo Dietrich and run by
Isamin Armendariz,
Eugenio Garcia, Miguel Velazquez, Rosaura Solano, Ricardo Alcala and Magdiely Lopez.
